Hi, I’m John

I make words that become stories. I’ve done it my whole life and professionally for more than six years. I’ve worked on brands that reach kids, generous donors, business leaders, and the neighbor you see at the gas station. My passion is, and will always be, making every sentence sing, no matter the target audience.

United Way

Event Coverage/Social

I was lead writer on digital and physical fundraising and impact event materials. I was also in charge of United Way’s social accounts and covered large fundraising events through at-event photography, live-tweeting, and post-event recaps.

Blogs/Storytelling

I was part of a team creating weekly blogs for United Way’s website on topics related to its four primary impact areas. I also wrote success stories to post on Salesforce and consulted on a website redesign.

Emails

I wrote emails on topics including donor outreach, celebrations of success, and monthly company recaps covering all high-interest content: blogs, campaigns, etc.


ReVo MG

Blogging

I wrote monthly, brand-agnostic blog posts geared toward automotive retail management. Topics included industry market trends, user engagement, and direct-mail benefits (ReVo’s specialty).

Social Media

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wrote for and managed the ReVo LinkedIn page, curating content designed to reassure and inform automotive professionals about market trends amid the changing environment.

Editorial

I lead editorial efforts on a high volume of physical and digital mail marketing assets. Grammar, style, consistency, clarity — I was in charge of ensuring correctness for all these and more.


Charles Schwab

Emails

I worked with creative directors, designers, project managers, and SMEs to create emails that informed Schwab clients of new products, services, and developments within the business.

I helped create top-of-page and in-copy banners in Schwab’s unique voice and tone, as well as refreshing or creating new content for upcoming products and introducing existing clients to a recent major acquisition.

I worked closely with senior legal and compliance teams to help craft internationally compliant web copy, as well as assist in the production of several print products including a personal notebook for executors and family.

I write guides and explanatory content about a wide variety of games and gaming topics, whether how to use an in-game feature, community tool, or new updates and news about upcoming titles.

SEO and market research

Image Capture/Editing

When playing, I capture high-quality, high-definition imagery that I then do light editing to in Photoshop to meet site and network requirements as well as my personal quality standards.

Brands: Mobil 1, Eversource Energy

Web Ads

I created a wide variety of short-form web content for two major brands: Mobil 1 and Eversource Energy. My work included banners, web pages, buttons, animated ads, and more.

Social Posts

I wrote content for Eversource Energy’s Mass Save initiative on social media, primarily Facebook and Twitter.

Asset Management

I was in charge of organizing and optimizing Mobil 1’s proprietary marketing asset management system, where I collected, named, and cataloged images and other materials for use across the brand.


Hasbro

Brand: Transformers

Packaging

I worked alongside a team of designers and marketers to create both packaging and instructions for a variety of Transformers toys. Part storytelling, part science, I designed my copy to engage both young children and their parents.
